Surprising as it may be, a huge amount of businesses still rely on old school marketing techniques without much of Internet and mobile technologies. Even that we all use Internet, Smartphones, tablets, you name it, you can, as a business owner and management representative forget that your business is present on the Web. Any presence of your Business on the Internet is your business card for the customers. Your Website, Social Page, Posts, feedbacks and reviews.
If you have outdated content, customers may think you are not in the game anymore. If you have no site at tall, your business may look as bunch of amateurs. If you have review that is negative, and feedback or query that did not get response, customer will take it as a rule of thumb and forget about you even before they give your business a chance.
Competition provides the same services and goods as you, maybe less, maybe worse, but if they get better shiny look advantage against you, customers will notice and behave based on that. But mainly, they need to be able to find you, and without online presence, in a form of Website, Social Page and Map reference, how do you expect them to get to you?
Healthcare providers like Dentists, General Practitioners, Family doctors or Chiropractors for example are mainly working on word-of-mouth, reference and big signs on front of their practice. Their Web presence is secured in the best cases with Google own search engine crawler, Google maps discovery or third party Healthcare search sites. One may say that this is enough, but even though the particular business may be lucky with their business being found through search engine, because they did not post it, they can’t manage it. They can’t provide the right message to their customers, images, details about their offerings, etc. That also means that Google engine scores their presence much lower than if they will have own Website, Social networks site and up to date relevant content.
This reality checks is not only applicable to Healthcare providers, but to other industries like Barbershops, Dry cleaners, Accountants, and many more. Time to time I hear from them that the market is changing and the customers are not coming as they used to in older times. Guess what, your ability to adapt to a new business realities may be the main reason behind your frustration. You want to gain more customers, and therefore new generations and much younger audience. That requires you to be relevant, reaching to them through new channels that you did not used before. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Google, Google Maps. These are mainly the tools you should be looking in to getting your business heard, visible and active.
Some of them even though they have Web presence in a form of outdated website, still thinking that it’s good enough and hoping for some miracle that this will bring the customers. It’s not so costly to improve website design, update content, and engage with customers through Social networks. But business owners and responsible management most of the time don’t weight this as their priority and forgetting that this is representing their business through one of the main information channel for their customers. Current, future and potential one.
